Yellowhead Trail is the successor of Old Northwest Trail which is extended from Winnipeg to Edmonton (about 3000 km). It is one of the popular historic trails, if you are driving to Canada, you can see a scenic beauty around.

At Portage la Prairie, the Yellowhead Trail bifurcates to the left off No.1 Highway, from where it goes via highway 16 to Neepawa, towards the west through picturesque landscapes and woodlands to the south of Riding Mountain Provincial Park.
Then, the trail goes through Minnedosa, Russel and onward to Saskatchewan
Yellowhead Trail got its name from fur trader and explorer who went by the name Pierre Bostonais. Because of the yellow streaks in his hair, he was also called “Tete Jaune” which in French means Yellow head.
